Welcome back to another episode of the Potty Report. So I'm doing something dangerous today. Ooh like, I live for danger, right, I'm trying to think of what animated movie that is. I live for danger, I worship danger. I don't know what it is, I can just see an animated creature in my mind. I don't know what movie that is. It will come to me later, like hours after I've done, you know, created this episode. But today I am sharing something that is dangerous because I'm in the middle of it, right Like. It's not always great to share the story when you're right in the middle of it, but because I'm doing it right now. And it's vulnerable because I don't really know what I'm doing. I think that's the vulnerability piece of it is like just admitting I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm gonna share this with you anyway.

So I knew at the beginning of the year that this year I was gonna start investing more in growing my audience in bigger ways, and one of the ways that I'm stepping out of my comfort zone is I am investing in ads. This year. I've done this. In the past I've invested in Facebook and Instagram ads, but I wanted to try Google and YouTube this year because my YouTube audience has grown. I think that I'm close to 7,000 subscribers over there now, so I already have an organic audience and I wanted to see what could I do with that audience. And I've never explored Google AdWords, so I wanted to see what the potential was there. I have all these trainings and it just so happens because I love a good coupon, I love a good coupon, I love a good promotion and I had just recently got an email from Google that I had signed up for an ads account and it was like oh, by the way, if you spend $500 by this time, we'll give you $500 in credit. And I was like, okay, this is a no-brainer right, because I thought I was probably gonna spend around $500 in ads and looking at things, so I was like, okay, I'll try it. It's absolutely worth the investment because I wanna learn, I wanna get better at doing this and I want to understand how my audience operates on these channels when it comes to a paid platform.

So, in real time, I have started running this campaign. Let me click on, like I'm actually in my Google Ads account right now looking at things. So I have a 15 second video ad that I ran on YouTube. And then I have a smart campaign on Google search which it kind of like it's still learning I mean, we're in the first 48 hours to be turning this on, so I'm still learning in real time and the different metrics that are being put to use in the background, like that is still learning in real time.

Speaker 0:

But from this 15 second video ad, it has had 5,000 impressions, it's had 4.5K views and four website visits. So I'm like that's not really significant, right? That's not great. So that's either telling me that people are skipping it, right? Which so many people. Who doesn't skip ads on YouTube? Come on, come on. If you say you don't, you're lying like come on. So people are either skipping it or they're not really paying attention after the ad is done. They're just like they're letting it happen to them. They're walking out of the room for 15 seconds and saying, okay, I guess I'll watch this ad and they're not really doing anything.

Speaker 0:

So this tells me maybe I need to tweak my call to action, maybe I need to update the video, maybe I need to have a longer video. So I'm willing to invest in these ads to learn so that I can get better at them and tweak my videos. I can get better at them and tweak them and come back to you with more information on how you can use Google ads, youtube ads, for your own content and your own business. So stay tuned. I will provide updates whenever I have them. Like I said, it's more in the first 48 hours. I will have more updates as we go on this journey, but I will fill you in along the way. But that's all I have for you today. So, as always, remember, keep it fresh, keep it fun and just keep going.
