Taking a Break From the Whirlwind of Content Creation: A Journey of Rejuvenation

Krystal Proffitt Season 1 Episode 885

Ever find yourself caught in the relentless whirlwind of content creation, even when you're supposed to be on vacation? You're not alone. After finding myself in a similar situation, I took a month off from all interviews and video content. The result was astonishing. The break allowed me to relax, recharge and escape from the internal pressure of continuous content creation.

Upon returning, I had a newfound appreciation and excitement for conducting podcast interviews. This hiatus has given me a fresh perspective and a rekindled passion for my craft. I've rounded up an incredible lineup of engaging episodes with phenomenal guests such as Amy Porterfield and Justin Moore that you wouldn't want to miss.

This episode is a gentle reminder that stepping away, taking a break, and returning to reenergizing is okay. So, if you find yourself stuck on the relentless hamster wheel of content creation, tune in as we discuss the importance of carving out time in your schedule for creative rejuvenation. Remember, the magic happens when you return refreshed and reignite your creative spark.

Speaker 1:

Welcome back to another episode of the Putty Report. Can we talk about taking a break for a second? Because over the summer I did something so intentional that I am so proud of myself. I took a break from doing interviews and video content and just doing a lot of extra content creation in the month of July this summer, and I am so grateful for it. One, I actually got a break and I didn't feel this pressure of like, oh, we're on vacation but I should still be doing this, or we're about to go out of town so I need a batch, a whole bunch of stuff. Like I didn't really feel that. I didn't have all that like internal angst of like, oh, I love that I am a creator and I create stuff, but I also hate it because, like I wish I could be doing this. I just gave myself permission to cancel all the slots that I have. So I have my Calendly links for coaching, I have Calendly links for interviews and I was like I'm taking the entire month of July off and I'm not going to do anything outside of. I have a group coaching, calls for the profit podcast, and that was it and anything that I had scheduled already. Like I think there might have been one other thing. So I did two video calls the entire month of July and it was glorious, it was fantastic. Like I said, I didn't have that pressure of, oh, I should be doing this or oh my gosh, like we're going to be my parents house. I got to figure out like the Wi-Fi situation and the camera set up and do any of this and I got to take a whole bunch of crap with me Like I didn't worry about any of that stuff.

Speaker 1:

But really, the second piece is what I'm so excited and I'm sharing here with you today is I have done in the last two weeks, multiple podcast interviews and I am loving it. I think I needed this distance of taking a break to rejuvenate, get excited again and actually miss doing interviews, so that I could come back and have this whole other perspective. This like oh my gosh, I miss this, I missed you which is weird because I'm not like talking to the same person, but I miss this like the you I missed you is creating and connecting with people. I missed it. And so if you are on this like content creation hamster wheel, where you're just like I'm going, I'm creating, I'm doing podcasts, I'm doing YouTube, always, always, always, creating blog posts, instagram, newsletter, like all the time.

Speaker 1:

You have to give yourself a break. Now you don't have to take an entire month off, and that doesn't mean I took a month off of the podcast. I obviously there was content still published here, but giving myself permission and not do as much video allowed for me to just look like crap Most of the time. Can I say that? Can we just be that honest? It's like I was like I don't want to wear makeup. This summer I'm going to be at the pool with the kids or I'm going to be in a place where it's just so hot, it's going to be so sweaty. I don't just want to sweat off my makeup. So I didn't want to have to feel like I needed to be prepared for video. I just wanted to go about my life, just existing, and it was so fantastic and it gave me that break to come back and I can't wait to share with you.

Speaker 1:

So if you are subscribed to the Prophet podcast, stay tuned. I have some really fun episodes like really, really fun. We are talking to Amy Porterfield. She's coming on the show again. That's going to be a fantastic episode coming up at the end of August.

Speaker 1:

I talked to you yesterday, talked to Justin Moore about sponsorships, and we actually kind of did like an on air coaching session, which I think you'll find very valuable. I talked to Cami, who's an audio engineer, and she shit, we nerded out about editing and it was fantastic. I mean I just I have some really fun interviews coming up and I cannot wait to share them with you. But if you haven't taken a break in a while, maybe take a week, maybe take two weeks. If you can take four weeks, that's fantastic. But make sure that you are adding this margin into your life, into your schedule, that allows you some white space to come back refreshed and creative and just feel that energy for your content again. But that's all I have for you today. So, as always, remember, keep it fresh, keep it fun and just keep going.
