Saying Goodbye to The Poddy Report: A Reflection on the Journey Since 2020
What would you do if you had to say goodbye to a beloved part of your life to make way for new opportunities? As we pause at the crossroads of change, we draw parallels with the iconic TV show Friends and the poignant farewell between Monica and Rachel. Just as they embraced the "end of an era," this episode of the Poddy Report marks a similar end, but not without revisiting our journey since its inception in 2020.
Today, I'm taking you through how the Poddy Report came to life during the peak of the pandemic, evolving into a creative outlet and a platform that brought us all closer. As tough as it was to decide, after evaluating my content creation goals for Proffitt Media, it was clear that it was time to let go.
But, while we approach the final week of the Poddy Report, with the last episode due next Friday, let's relish the remaining days and keep the spirit intact. Reminisce the past episodes that will always be here for you to revisit. Tune in, keep it fresh, fun, and just keep going.
Welcome back to another episode of the Potty Report. Have you seen the show, friends? I'm assuming? I mean, of course, you know what I'm talking about, but you know the show. But this specific episode that I wanted to bring up today is the one where Monica and Chandler decide to live together and Rachel has a really hard time with it right and she doesn't think it's gonna happen. And then they sort of end up in this embrace where it finally sets in that the two are parting ways. Rachel and Monica are no longer gonna live together anymore and they both just start saying it's the end of an era. It's the end of an era, and that's what this episode is today.
Speaker 1:It's the end of an era for the Potty Report, and I just recorded an episode of the Profit Podcast before this and I was like no, I have to tell my Potty Report listeners before it comes out on the Profit Podcast and this is really hard. This is a lot harder than what I was expecting. So I created this show in 2020, the height of the pandemic and I was like you know what I need? Something that is different. It's a creative thing that I just wanna do. People ask me about Daily Podcast and I wanted to have an answer for them. So I started this and then launched it at the end of March 2020. And here we are September 2023. Like, we've been doing this for over three years, but I was doing some evaluation of all the content that I'm creating, all of my goals and what I'm really trying to achieve with Profit Media, and the Potty Report was the clear thing that I needed to let go of, which really sucks, because I know that this audience, like I know, when you listen, like you either listen to all five episodes in a row, like back, like you just binge listen it's like 25 minute binge on catching up with me. What's going on or you listen to it every day, every Monday, you're like, oh, I'm gonna tune in see what Crystal's up to. So I so appreciate the fact that you've been hanging around here for the last three years. Or maybe you're new to the show and you've only been listening for a short time, but I am gonna be shutting it down. So this is the end of an era. None of the episodes are going away. They'll still live here, but I don't know that, like I can't say like it's gonna be forever. It could just be a period of time, but it's the end of a quarter right now and you've heard me, if you've been listening to the show, you know I plan in quarters of the year, and September is the end of a quarter and I thought you know what. This is the perfect time.
Speaker 1:I was on the beach and I told this story a little bit on the Profit Podcast, but we went to Port Aransas with the family over Labor Day weekend and I just had this gut feeling that something needed to change in my business. I didn't have time for some of the things that I wanted to pursue, and when I thought of what can I not do anymore? What can I take off of my plate, this was the thing that kept coming back. It's the thing that I end up doing on the weekends, when I wish I wasn't doing it on the weekends. It's the thing that, because it's five episodes, I don't just upload one thing. I have to upload five things and I have to wait for things to process and I have to come up with titles and descriptions, and it's just something that I need to let go of.
Speaker 1:So today is not the last episode. You will still be getting more episodes, but I wanted you to be prepared that next week, next Friday, will be the last episode for now of the Potty Report. So there we go, here we are, and I'm so grateful that you've been hanging out with me for the last while and I promise you I'm gonna keep delivering awesome value over the next few days as we finish out the Potty Report. But again, thank you so much for hanging out with me and, as always, remember, keep it fresh, keep it fun and just keep going.
